Dog Age to Human Age Calculator

This calculator helps you estimate your dog's age in human years. Since dogs age differently depending on their breed and size, there's no single universal formula. However, a commonly used rule is that the first year of a dog's life equals about 15 human years, the second year equals about 9 human years, and each additional year equals around 5 human years. This tool applies that method to give you a quick approximation.

Why Dog Years Differ

Dogs grow and mature much faster than humans, especially in their early years. That's why a one-year-old dog is already like a teenager in human terms. After the first couple of years, their aging slows down relative to humans, which is why each year after two is estimated at about 5 human years.

Breed and Size Considerations

Larger breeds tend to have shorter lifespans and may age faster after their early years, while smaller breeds often live longer and age more slowly. This calculator uses a general approximation, but your vet can give you a more precise estimate based on your dog's breed and health.
